Short Term Rental Permit Information
The Town of Colorado City requires all short-term and vacation rental properties operating within town limits to obtain an annual permit. These regulations are designed to maintain the quality and character of our community for residents and visitors alike.
Who Needs a Permit?
Any owner offering a single-family home, multi-family unit, or condominium as a short-term or vacation rental within Colorado City must obtain a permit before listing or renting the property. Operating without a valid permit is prohibited and subject to civil penalties.
Steps To Apply
- Review the Town Code (Chapter 112) to ensure your property meets all requirements
- Complete the online application
- Pay the non-refundable permit fee of $48 as established by Town Council
- Permits are issued within 7 business days of a complete application
Important Requirements
- Permits must be renewed annually
- The permit number must appear on all advertisements
- A 24-hour emergency contact must be designated and posted on-site
- A sex offender background check must be conducted on each guest within 24 hours of booking
- Permits are non-transferable
